The Morris County
NJ USBC Hall of Fame
The Morris County NJ USBC Hall of
Fame was established to honor those individuals who have displayed
outstanding bowling achievements in the game of bowling and/or who have
contributed outstanding service to the game of bowling.
Election to the Morris County USBC
Hall of Fame recognizes performance, accomplishments and/or service
primarily achieved within the Morris County NJ USBC Association. While
accomplishments at the New Jersey State USBC or other areas will factor
into eligibility and election decisions, more weight is given to those
occurring within the County. The Hall of Fame is governed by a Hall of
Fame Committee appointed bi-annually by the Association President.
He/she also appoints the chairperson of the Committee who organizes
meetings and ensure the bi-annual induction process is followed. The
Hall of Fame Committee has sole responsibility for the process developed
and followed for candidate solicitation, evaluation and induction. The
Committee also has full ownership of the Hall and final decisions on any
and all inductees.
There are four (4) categories for
enshrinement in the Hall of Fame:
Superior Performance
Veteran Superior Performance
Meritorious Service
Industry Partner
Eligibility for election to the Hall
of Fame is open to both men and women bowlers who have been sanctioned
and competed at the adult level or who have served or contributed to the
sport primarily within the Morris County NJ USBC Association.
Eligibility is based on a set of minimum requirements and
accomplishments according to the category for which a candidate is
nominated. In the Superior Performance/Veteran Superior
Performance/Meritorious Service categories, accomplishments are
evaluated utilizing a point system specific to the category. The
Industry Partner category does not utilize a point system. In all
categories, a person who has passed away may still be nominated and
inducted posthumously. For the Superior Performance category, specific
accomplishment point values have been established for each of men and
women candidacies with a total of at least 400 points required for
eligibility.
A specific point system has also
been established for the Veteran Superior Performance category with a
total of at least 300 points required for eligibility. Each point system
has been designed to ensure candidates have demonstrated achievements
across tournament performance, honor scores and sustained excellence in
league play. For the Meritorious Service category, point values have
been established based on service time spent in various Association
Board positions and performing in roles such as committee chair,
tournament director and lane representative. In this category, a minimum
of 200 points is required for eligibility. Industry Partner nominees
shall be evaluated for eligibility via a qualitative assessment of each
ones contributions to our sport within Morris County NJ USBC.
Qualifications and minimum
requirements for each category are listed on each application, including
the point values used if applicable. PROCESS FOR ELECTION/INDUCTION
Applications for the Hall of Fame are made available year-round on the
Morris County NJ USBC website and Facebook page and in all member
bowling centers. Only completely populated applications are accepted for
consideration if received by the published bi-annual deadline.
Each application is reviewed for
completeness and the applicable point system applied to it. The Hall of
Fame Committee reviews and discusses applications that meet all
eligibility requirements and determine the final list for induction via
election by a majority vote of each candidate. The Hall of Fame
Committee chairperson promptly notifies each inductee-elect and returns
credentials to any unsuccessful candidate so they can be updated and
resubmitted for future consideration. Inductees-elect are honored at the
bi-annual Hall of Fame dinner. Each inductee receives a USBC Hall of
Fame Certificate along with a suitable plaque. Each inductee is also
enrolled in the Local Association section of the National USBC Hall of
Fame in Arlington, TX.
